REPORT OF GUEST LECTURE ON CONTRACT DRAFTING

On 5th October, 2019, a Guest Lecture on ‘Contract Drafting’ was organized by Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur, for the students of 1st Semester BA/BBA LL.B. programme. The resource person for the Guest Lecture was Advocate Chetan Dhore, practicing advocate at Bombay High Court, Nagpur Bench, Nagpur. The Speaker was welcomed and felicitated by Dr. Sukhvinder Singh Dari, Director, SLS, Nagpur.The Speaker was formally introduced by Ms. Shreya G (LL.B. I Semester student).

The resource person, in his lecture accentuated on the use of logic, the anticipation of prospective dispute and proper study of statutes pertinent with the subject matter of the contract while drafting a contract. He, with the help of live examples, demonstrated the legal complications that arise if the contract doesn't get drafted by following the above-mentioned steps. After establishing the requisites required to draft a contract, the speaker enlightened the students with the essential aspects of contract drafting. The students were also acquainted with the basic clauses which are to be included while drafting every contract. Finally, the speaker emphasized on the increasing role of arbitration in resolving contractual disputes.

The lecture concluded with the vote of thanks which was proposed by Ms. Shreya G. The event took place in the Moot Court Hall at SLS, Nagpur.
