Symbiosis Law School's Global Educational Commitment
Since its inception in 1971, Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, India, has been strongly committed to the internationalization of higher education.

The University’s genesis was rooted in compassion towards international students studying in Pune, Maharashtra. Symbiosis believes that its students should receive international exposure and, therefore, has an almost half-century-long tradition of internationalization. To take forward this tradition of Internationalization, Symbiosis Law School Nagpur has its very own International Cell.

The objectives of the International Cell are as follows:
- Providing international exposure through different initiatives and targeted scholarships; new links with international partners; student and faculty exchange programs; internships, etc.
- Develop and strengthen links with key institutions and agencies that promote knowledge transfer.
- Organize international conferences, leadership series, events, and forums for sparking dialogue on contemporary issues of international prominence.
- Strengthen the interactions amongst local and international students.
We at SLS-Nagpur, look at Guest Lectures, Seminars, Webinars, etc as a platform where we partner with eminent personalities and use this platform to disseminate knowledge to facilitate “learning beyond the classroom” kind of an avenue.
We hold regular guest lecturers as a part of our curriculum so that students get practical and comparative insights into the diverse fields of law from renowned experts around the world in their respective fields. The rationale behind it being quite clear to prepare our students for the global professional world with the best of faculties within and outside the country.

On July 16, 2019, Professor Lindsay Trotman from Massey University, New Zealand, delivered an academic lecture on the topic of Corporate Personality. The session provided in-depth insights into the concept of corporate personhood, a foundational principle in corporate law, which explores the legal status, rights, and responsibilities of corporations as distinct entities. Professor Trotman's expertise offered students and faculty a nuanced understanding of the subject, contributing significantly to the discourse on corporate governance and legal frameworks.
On May 13, 2020, Prof. George Richards from Edinboro University, Pennsylvania, USA, delivered an insightful lecture addressing the mental health challenges faced by first responders. His presentation explored the psychological pressures inherent in emergency response roles and provided strategies for maintaining mental well-being in high-stress professions. The session offered valuable perspectives on the intersection of mental health and professional resilience, contributing to a deeper understanding of the support systems necessary for first responders.
Dr. Mimi Samuel, an esteemed scholar from Seattle University, USA, delivered an insightful session on Legal Analysis on September 4, 2020.
On November 9, 2020, Professor Siva Thambisetty from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK, delivered a lecture on the topic "Patents and Access to Vaccines in the Time of COVID." The lecture addressed critical issues surrounding intellectual property rights, particularly patents, and their implications for equitable vaccine access during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
On May 27, 2021, Professor Rick Glofcheski from the University of Hong Kong delivered a scholarly lecture on the topic of Employer’s Vicarious Liability.
On June 3, 2021, Prof. Mark Meirowitz from the State University of New York, USA, delivered an insightful lecture on the topic "Introduction to the US Constitution." This session provided a comprehensive overview of the foundational principles, structure, and significance of the United States Constitution, offering participants an opportunity to engage with key aspects of American constitutional law under the guidance of an esteemed academic.
Dr. Maria Bruccoleri, from the University of Palermo, Italy, delivered a lecture on the topic of Cybercrime and Cybersecurity on September 27, 2021. The session focused on the critical issues surrounding cybercrime, the evolving threats in the digital landscape, and the corresponding strategies for enhancing cybersecurity. This academic discourse offered insights into the legal and technological frameworks necessary to combat cybercrime, as well as the challenges faced by global legal systems in addressing such offenses in an increasingly interconnected world.
Dr. Sophie Doherty, a faculty member at the Open University, UK, presented a lecture on "Justice for Victims: Survivors of Sexual Violence – Feminism, Law, and Art" on October 14, 2021. The presentation explored the intersection of feminism, law, and the arts in advocating for justice for survivors of sexual violence. It critically examined how feminist legal theory and artistic expressions contribute to the discourse on justice, providing new perspectives on the challenges faced by survivors. Through this interdisciplinary approach, Dr. Doherty's lecture aimed to foster a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding the legal and social frameworks that impact survivors of sexual violence.
Barrister Michael Obayrin, Esq., a distinguished legal professional, is affiliated with McForte Attorneys, specializing in contract negotiations and human rights law. He has contributed extensively to the legal field, with a particular focus on these areas of expertise. His work in contract law and human rights underscores his commitment to advancing legal practices that safeguard individual rights while ensuring equitable contractual frameworks. Fatema Waariitah Ahsan is a Barrister admitted to practice in England and Wales. She specializes in Media Law and delivered a lecture on the subject on October 29, 2021.
Dr. Rebecca Elizabeth Todd is a licensed attorney with the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) and serves as legal counsel for Antioch University in West Chesterfield, New Hampshire, United States. She specializes in legal writing and has contributed to the academic field through her expertise in this area, including her involvement in the Legal Writing Skills program held on August 11-12, 2023.
Dr. Krystian Complak, Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Wroclaw, Poland, will deliver a lecture titled "New Approaches and Ideas on Human Dignity: An International Comparative Perspective" on October 16, 2024. This presentation will explore contemporary perspectives on human dignity from a global viewpoint, offering comparative insights from various international legal frameworks. Dr. Complak's expertise in constitutional law will provide an in-depth analysis of evolving concepts of human dignity and their implications across different jurisdictions. Under the guidance of the Faculty In-Charge of the International Cell, we continue to build bridges between Symbiosis and the world, cultivating a generation of leaders ready to thrive in a global society. Through these initiatives, Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur, reaffirms its pledge to nurture minds with a global outlook, blending academic rigor with a passion for cultural diversity and international collaboration. The International Cell at Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur, actively collaborates with numerous foreign universities to foster global academic engagement. It undertakes a diverse range of initiatives, including student exchange programs, participation in summer and winter schools, mentorship schemes, and international internships. These activities are meticulously planned and executed by a dedicated team of student members from Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur, under the guidance of faculty advisors.
