Inaugural Ceremony of Legal Aid Centre in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Nagpur

The Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur has started its academic session from July 2019 at Wathoda, Nagpur Campus. SLS, Nagpur and offers two integrated undergraduate Five years law courses in Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (B.A. LL.B) and Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws (B.B.A. LL.B.) and LLM courses to cater to diverse needs of the legal profession.

The legal Aid Centre at Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Shri Sunil Shukre, Judge, Bombay High Court at Nagpur Bench, Nagpur as Chief Guest, Hon'ble Shri Abhay Mantri, Principal District & Session Judge, and President, DLSA Nagpur as Guest of Honour, Dr. Sukhvinder Badan Singh Dari, Director, Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur in the presence of advocates, teachers and students and other distinguished dignitaries. Dr. Dari, director of SLS, Nagpur, in his welcome speech pointed the importance of legal aid and how it is important to inculcate social responsibility in the minds of students. Dr. Deepti Khubalkar, Asst. Professor and incharge of Legal Aid Centre, gave introduction about the Centre. Hon’ble Justice Shri Shukre congratulated the college administration for establishing Legal Aid Centre and providing quality legal education in India. He appreciated the legal aid practices and efforts made by law school to inculcate legal skills to the learners. Hon’ble Abhay Mantri, Principal District and Session Judge shared the importance of legal aid and its working. Ms. Aditee Godbole, Asst. Professor gave vote of thanks.

“Legal Aid Centre”, of Symbiosis law school, Nagpur is established with an objective to provide legal aid and to impart legal awareness to needy and poor sections of the society. Through this Centre, college aims to provide legal knowledge and literacy by organizing legal aid camps and other social outreach programs. Legal Aid Centre through constituting a panel consisting of faculty in charge and 30 students offers free legal advice to the indigent people who will come to the Centre with their problems. The legal aid cell also in its action plan propose to organize legal awareness programs in the villages in Nagpur District, Legal literacy camp on specific subjects such as drafting of application under Right to Information Act, Core legal help on case to case basis with the help of lawyers on panel suggested by DLSA. The centre will work in three directions; core legal aid, legal awareness and legal literacy in collaboration of DLSA, Nagpur
