Justice D.V.S.S Somayajulu Was born on 26.09.1961 in a family of lawyers. He is a 4th generation lawyer. He had his early education at Visakhapatnam. He did his B.Com., at Dr.L.B. College, Visakhapatnam, and B.L., from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. He was enrolled as an Advocate on the Roll of Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh and practiced law at Visakhapatnam. He had extensively practiced before various mofussil courts and dealt with all kinds of cases with specialization in civil, commercial and arbitration matters. He had appeared before erudite legal luminaries of national and international eminence in arbitrations all over India and abroad also.

He was counsel for numerous Public Sector Undertakings and for a number of private companies and banks besides having a large private clientele. He was the President of the Andhra Cricket Association, Member of the Legal Committee of the Board of Cricket Control (BCCI), President of Bar Association, Visakhapatnam, The Waltair Club, Visakhapatnam, and General Trustee to the Visakha Music and Dance Academy, AVN College, & Public Library, Visakhapatnam. He was nominated as ‘Swatchh Bharat Ambassador’ for Visakhapatnam.

He was appointed as Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and the State of Andhra Pradesh and sworn-in on 21.09.2017. He is the first Advocate from a mofussil Bar in Andhra Pradesh who is directly elevated as a Judge of a High Court.
