About the Cell:

The Symbiosis Advocacy and Research Centre for Women and Children Rights (SARC-WCR) is dedicated to raising awareness and driving action on critical issues affecting women and children, such as gender-based violence, child labour, child marriage, and healthcare access. We aim to create a supportive environment that encourages individuals to speak up and seek help through engaging campaigns, educational workshops, and community events. Our commitment extends to conducting and publishing research to inform policies, while organizing outreach initiatives that provide legal training on rights and remedies. By collaborating with local organizations and fostering empowered voices, we strive to contribute to a more equitable and sustainable society for all..

Aims and Objectives

Symbiosis Advocacy and Research Centre for Women and Children Rights.

Objectives of the cell:

• Providing awareness about the rights of women and children in both rural and urban areas.
• Providing legal aid to a victim of those who are deprived of any rights, with the association and support of the Legal Aid Centre of SLS NAGPUR.
• Establishing a network which will be there for a much longer period under the guidance of the teachers and students of SLS Nagpur. .
• Making the institute proud and its name held high while deliberating upon the social responsibility for the happening in the country.
• Educating the youth and to make them capable of solving global level problems.
• Establishing a committed organization/cell that is fully committed to fighting for women and children and will routinely seek to work harder for the greater development of the underprivileged sect or class.

Selection process for members of this Club:

The members were selected based on merit and Candidates' previous experience. All SLS Nagpur Students are eligible to be a member of the cell.

• Google Form which includes personal information of the candidate, his/her past experiences and Statement of Purpose.
• Shortlisted Candidates from the responses received through online forms go through a PI (personal interview) round which is taken by the faculty in-charge and the Student In-Charge (s).

Events Conducted:

• 31st March 2023: Establishment of Cell in Symbiosis Law School Nagpur, Constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed) University, Under the Guidance of Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Dari, Director SLS Nagpur.
• 9th September 2023: Inauguration of Cell by Chief Guest Adv. Ms. Tajwar Khan and Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Dari, Director, SLS Nagpur.
• 27th October, 2023: Conducted Workshop on Juvenile Justice Act in collaboration with ‘My Story’ NGO, followed by Quiz Competition on Juvenile Justice Act name of the Event - “JUSTICE QUEST- JUVENILE EDITION”, top six participants were awarded with internship opportunity at an NGO, Mt Story Foundation.
• 27th February 2024: Conducted a PPT Presentation Competition amongst the sister institutions of SIU Nagpur Campus, on the topic- Human Rights Violation and SEX Workers Trafficking.
• 8th March 2024: Conducted a Volunteer Programme on Awareness Drive for Women and Child Policies and Schemes of Government AT Village Koradi.
